Iran Reports Attack on US Base in Bahrain, During Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched missile attacks throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a significant and ongoing assault targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area near the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any impact is uncertain and the US has remained silent.
Airspace Engagements
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - stated they have shot down incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry said it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was striking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on Iran launched by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That preceding assault - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck locations linked to the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump calling on the Iranian people to revolt against the government.
