Ideally, they'd want an contest for the urn in Australia where they still have a chance to secure the famous trophy following the initial matches.

That will not be happening this time, though, after the hosts' dominant triumph in Adelaide left the home side 3-0 up for the fourth consecutive series on Australian grounds.

The loyal traveling fans, the vocal contingent, have a large group making the journey for the last two matches in Sydney and Melbourne.

Furthermore, other travel parties who will be vacationing down under, as well as relatives and companions embarking on a dream holiday.

A group of four supporters are a prime example.

The group had their itineraries and entry credentials arranged for the Melbourne and Sydney matches "well ahead of time", anticipating a rare England series success.

Instead, they have watched Australia defeat England convincingly in just under two weeks from their family home in the north of England.

"All my colleagues has been giving me grief regarding the concluded contest for the last two weeks," said Sam.

"Our expectation had been that we would have the series on the line upon our arrival."

Diminishing Hope

Hope was abundant concerning a potential victory of ending their 15-year wait for a victory down under before it began.

But they are now staring down the barrel of prolonging a streak without victory in the country to 19 games when the Boxing Day Test begins in Melbourne on Thursday, 25 December.

Ben Stokes' side - and their followers - will be hoping to sidestep a whitewash.

It was mentioned that the "excitement and fun" of head coach Brendon McCullum's 'Bazball' in recent times had "brought fresh energy to" the five-day game for England fans.

But the Ryding siblings said they had realistic outlooks for the remaining matches - and all they are asking for from the players is "a bit of fight".

"All analysts alludes to it, but it all is about fortitude. 'Bazball' has been turned into a buzzword now that is just, like, impractical batting," added Rory.

"Over the course of five days, you should apply yourself. Chasing balls 'wide of off stump has never been in the textbooks, and that is primarily due to the batting lineup."

Looking Ahead

Prompted about he believed England will win a match in this contest, one fan responded: "The evidence suggests the Australians are superior right now."

"There is going to have to be more than one player that stands up for England and turns the game."

Even with the series lost, the fans are excited about the trip.

"We are going to have a fantastic experience regardless," said Katie. "We must adopt that outlook."

"Of course, it's disappointing we don't have more to play for, but we have invested a significant amount by now."

"We plan to savor spending the festive season out there. Additionally, it's our first experience traveling during the festive period."

An educator, Katie is determined to make the most of the long-haul travel as part of her seasonal break.

"As a backup plan, there's always golf to rely on," she added.
