The acclaimed police drama AC-12 will make a comeback for its 7th installment, confirmed by the broadcaster.

An upcoming six-episode season written by the show's creator will begin filming in Northern Ireland in the coming months, as confirmed by the production team.

The actress expressed excitement about the return, stating she was "thrilled" about the series' return. Adrian Dunbar added, "How wonderful it is to know that the Three Amigos will be reuniting together next year."

The last series concluded in 2021 with a finale that drew in more than 17 million audience members. Rumors about a potential return have been widespread ever since, but official word only arrived recently.

New Challenges for AC-12

Series seven will open with AC-12 no longer existing and renamed as the Inspectorate of Police Standards, as revealed by production details.

Steve Arnott, Vicky McClure's role, and Adrian Dunbar's part continue tasked to tackle corruption within the law enforcement.

Their work "faces unprecedented challenges", and in this climate, the trio are assigned their "most sensitive case so far."

New Character and Intricate Plot

A new character, Det Insp Dominic Gough, portrayed as a charming officer celebrated for busts of organized crime, is accused of abusing his position to act as a offender.
