The second-hand marketplace Members Voice Anger Over Size Updates
Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to items being listed as the wrong size.
This online marketplace has revised its sizing categories for women's and children's garments without notifying all users about the change.
Online Platforms Response
Countless users and merchants are posting online stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.
Vinted explained the new system was more in line with other platforms.
They have suggested members to review their products and update the measurements by hand if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.
Size Classification Updates
Earlier, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - like an L measurement was previously a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Shopper Experiences
One content creator, who creates plus-size fashion videos, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they may become frustrated," she stated.
Required Changes
Charlotte Lunn, located in England, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizing for "all her products".
"This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential for me since losing part of my income," she said.
Platform Context
The service features exceeding 100 million users, including 18 million in the UK.
It has become a favored option versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time that an unexpected update within the service has received backlash: previously, the service retracted a modification to its shipping options following member complaints.
