Toronto Blue Jays Secure Fall Classic Showdown Against defending champion Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

The outfielder previously helped the Astros claiming the championship in 2017.

Canada's MLB team reached their maiden Fall Classic after 1993 by beating the Mariners in the final Game 7 of the American League Championship Series.

Behind 3-1, outfielder George Springer delivered a three-run home run in the seventh, leading the sole Canadian team in Major League Baseball to a 4-3 win in the series. They will now face the Dodgers, the team that is the current crown, in the forthcoming World Series.

"I'm thrilled for our team, the city, the nation," commented Springer, a star of the Astros team that secured the 2017 championship. "What an unbelievable moment."

George Springer has now hit twenty-three October home runs, ranking him third in history trailing only Manny Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Altuve (twenty-seven).

"There's probably not anyone else on planet Earth that I'd choose in that situation other than him with his October magic," said manager John Schneider.

Seattle, despite leading the early in the series, continue to be the only MLB franchise that has never reached in a championship series.

Mariners manager Dan Wilson commented "certainly that it's going to sting" in the wake of his side's defeat at their home ballpark, but applauded their performance this season.

"It's a special team. Sadly that we had to come out on the losing end of the series," he remarked.

Toronto won the championship on each of their earlier trips in 1992 and 1993, and are set to host the Los Angeles in the opener on Friday.
